Steam pressing my cape and installing Windows RT on Android Tablets.

I think I'd stick with Android - easier to use and much much cheaper for people who want to progress onto their own equipment... Windows has its place, but mainly for people wanting to improve their employment skills by having Office skills IMHO.

I agree but we have to be seen as "universal" in the learning environment and provide peripheral devices which are available in the UK.  Plus have you ever given somebody a tablet and told them it is running on Ice Cream Sandwich's.

If only!  Or Jelly Beans.

I don't think that should be a problem - not sure I'd actually mention the version to learners anyway, until you are having the "progressing to your own equipment" talk, especially as there's stylistic differences between different skins of same version anyway. As I say, it all depends on your target audience and delivery style, but I think RT might have a limited shelf-life anyway, some manufacturers have already started to "shun" it.
