where social housing providers meet to help their residents embrace the web
You have probably seen that the Big Lottery Fund has announced a UK-wide Basic Online Skills Programme. Affinity Sutton is working with Digital Unite to lead a bid for this funding stream developed by, and specifically aimed at, housing providers. This already has the support of organisations including the four UK housing federations, HACT, Digital Birmingham, and number of housing associations.
An element of Digital Unite’s involvement is providing support in relation to communication, and a webpage has been set up on their website to enable organisations to express their interest in involvement in the initiative see link here. The deadline for registering interest is 13 December 2013.
To ensure that housing providers nationwide are made aware that this bid is being developed the four housing federations and Digital Unite will contact their memberships. An online forum is being established to enable partners to contribute specific ideas about what the bid could include, and how it may help reach residents who do not have the digital skills they need.
