For around £45, I think the small extra may be well worth it for the usability of a larger screen (9 or even 10 inches are available about this price). I have a couple of 7inch tablets but I only really use them as media players for our children.

Do you know if anyone has done a recent comparison/evaluation of the cheaper end of the market tablets that could be attractive enough to offer reasonable functionality but at an affordable price?

Hi Tim

I'm not aware of anything, but you could do worse than look at Amazon for research and check out the user reviews - you can get quite rich information from checking out some of the 1/2 star and 4/5 star reviews on the tablets. There are plenty of tablets on there with fairly positive overall scores (you can order results by score) and enough reviews to give a balanced reflection, but it's worth checking out the poor reviews on them for a heads-up on drawbacks.
