Digital Housing Hub - #digihousing

where social housing providers meet to help their residents embrace the web

Dear Colleague

Sheffield and Region Digital Housing Network Event – No.3 – Friday 27th June 2014: *DON’T FORGET TO BOOK YOUR FREE PLACE!*

9.00 a.m. – 1.00 p.m. – The Circle, Rockingham Street, Sheffield, S1 4FW

“Social media – issues, challenges and opportunities”

“Working together to overcome the digital divide”

We would like to take this opportunity to invite you to the third Network event for Sheffield and the region. Previous events have been attended by Sheffield registered housing providers, regional housing ALMOs, representatives from Sheffield City Council (housing, libraries and public health), NHS, community and voluntary organisations and Sheffield Hallam University.

This event will provide you with an opportunity to share information, ideas and ways in which we can work together to promote digital inclusion for the benefit of our customers, organisation and the wider community.

An agenda for the event is attached. We are pleased to announce that our guest speaker for the day is John Popham.  John is a digital storyteller and social media consultant. He has a background in community development, and is a former local government officer who has held senior management positions in the social housing, voluntary and further education sectors. In recent years he has specialised in social media advice and training for the public, voluntary and SME sectors, as well as digital inclusion. He is also one of the country’s foremost experts in community engagement and partnership working for improvements in rural and city broadband, and in low-cost live video streaming of events and celebrations. We look forward to having him at this event.

As before, we hope to attract non-housing colleagues to the event. The primary focus is social housing tenants; they are twice as likely to be digitally excluded and are users of other public services. They are patients, claimants, library users and victims of crime.

We look forward to seeing you at the event.

If you have any queries about the event then please contact Jane Lyon (Assistant Manager, Projects), Sheffield City Council on 0114 27 35606 (
