James Lewis replied to James Lewis's discussion Windows tablets or Android?
"The update issue is especially a headache for people on Mobile Broadband I think - 500MB can be half a person's monthly data allowance if they are on a tight budget! Even for someone on the BT Basic 10GB or some of the other 20GB packages out…"

James Lewis replied to James Lewis's discussion Windows tablets or Android?
"Nothing lasts forever, not even a Mac!The upgrade would be fine for you or me but I know many of the people I see would rather try and conduct abdominal surgery on themselves than upgrade their computer, especially a laptop!   Apple have enough…"

John Popham replied to James Lewis's discussion Windows tablets or Android?
"Is that such a bad thing? Any way who needs replacements? The more recent MacBooks are a swizz because everything is glued or soldered in so it is not upgradeable. I have upgraded my 2011 MacBook Pro to a 1TB hard drive and 16GB of RAM and it was…"

James Lewis replied to James Lewis's discussion Windows tablets or Android?
"The other excellent thing about Android is the capacity to simplify it even further (and very easily) using various different launchers that are available, many free. I think this is a point well worth making that it is worth understanding the…"

Matt Nelson replied to James Lewis's discussion Windows tablets or Android?
"Thanks for agreeing John, and I agree with you if we are talking about users outside of the workplace! I have just fired up one of the laptops that we loan out to our tenants. In the three months since I last started it, Windows is loading…"

John Popham replied to James Lewis's discussion Windows tablets or Android?
"I agree with Matt if it's about employability. But if it's for work with older people, for instance, I would steer well clear of Windows. In my experience Windows is one of the biggest barriers to digital inclusion, from the error messages…"
